Atre The influence of alloying on the ignition and flammability was studied. One end of a cylindrical specimen was exposed to a free diffusion flame. Ignition required at least partial melting. Burning extinguished once the flame was withdrawn. Specimen tips of pure Mg, AZ61, and AZ91 ignited upon prolonged flame exposure. There was smouldering and delayed ignition for Mg-1Y. There was no ignition for Mg-5Y specimen tips, attributed to a protective surface oxide containing Y. The results indicate that (i) vigorous burning requires a continued supply of Mg vapour, and (ii) a critical alloy concentration is required to change ignition behaviour. 2011 Elsevier Ltd. Investigating the Effects of Cold Bulge Forming Speed on Thickness Variation and Mechanical Properties of Aluminum Alloys: Experimental and Numerical

In this work, cold bulge forming of an Aluminium-Magnesium (Al-Mg) sheet with a solid bulging medium is performed experimentally and numerically.  Mechanical properties and thickness variations of Al-Mg sheet are evaluated before and after the forming process.  The results indicated that the Al-Mg sheet has taken the desired shape without necking using the cold bulge forming process.  Also, the...

THERMAL ANALYSIS AND KINETICS OF THE PRECIPITATION IN WROUGHT Al-Mg, Al-Mg-ScAND Al-Mg-Sc-Me (Me=Zr, Ti) ALLOYS

Precipitation behaviour of wrought Al-6Mg alloys with ternary scandium and quaternary zirconium and titanium has been studied. Hardness measurements and resistivity studies are employed to assess the precipitation behaviour of scandium doped Al-6Mg alloy without or with quaternary additions of zirconium and titanium. Further, the kinetics of precipitations are studied by differential scanning c...

The Effect of Artificial Aging Treatment and Lubrication Modes on the Cutting Force and the Chip Surface Morphology when Drilling Al-Si-Mg (A356) Cast Alloys

This article reports the effects of various artificial aging methods and lubrication modes (dry, mist, wet) on the recorded cutting forces and chip morphology in drilling Al-Si-Mg (A356) cast alloys. In the course of this work, the work part sampled were as-received alloy (T0), solution heat-treated alloy (SHT) and then aged alloys at 155°C, 180°C, and 220°C (T4, T6, T61, T7), respectively. The...

EXPERIMENTALl ANALYSIS OF PARTITION COEFFICIENT IN Al-Mg ALLOYS

Because the partition coefficient is one of the most important parameters affecting microsegregation, the aim of this research is to experimentally analyse the partition coefficient in Al-Mg alloys. In order to experimentally measure the partition coefficient, a series of quenching experiments during solidification were carried out. For this purpose binary Al-Mg alloys containing 6.7 and 10.2 w...

اثر افزودنی منیزیم- ویتون بر رفتار حرارتی مخلوط‌های ترمیتی Al/nm-CuO

Traditional thermites are generally composed of micron-Al particles. These kinds of thermites usually exhibit poor reactivity characteristics such as a poor heat release and high ignition temperature. In this research, the influence of Mg-Viton as additive on the thermal behavior of Al/CuO systems was verified using thermal analysis techniques. In this paper, thermite mixtures are prepared usin...
